We practice the highest level of sterilization and cleanliness found in modern Periodontics today. This is an important and routine part of our practice. We use a steam autoclave for sterilization of our instruments after they are cold sterilized. All sterilizers are monitored for sterilization effectiveness through weekly spore tests that are sent to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cleaned instruments are stored in closed cabinets after sterilization. We also use sterile water in our waterlines. Another form of sterilization is plastic barriers ore the dental chairs and units. Our staff is trained and attends infection control courses to regulate and maintain proper sterilization techniques.
